Opening Banter Topics:

  • Tony played games with real people!
  • Tony shares the shenanigans that Jamie does when playing Wiz War.
  • Jamie explains a huge fight that broke out while playing Dutch Blitz that resulted in him hitting Tony in the face with a card.
  • Chris was drinking a Flying Dog Oyster Stout while playing Crude, which he knocked all over the board. His pure white dog is now beer stained but the Crude board is perfectly fine. Apparently Stronghold Games beerproofs their components.
  • Chris shares his excitement of getting CO2 from Santa Bounocore.
  • Jamie has been looking at Space Cadets, by Jeff Englestein. He wasn't thrilled by the simple concept of it, but after opening the box he was shocked by the complexity of each station.
  • Brian, Jamie, and Rodney Smith from Watch It Played took on Zombicide via Google Hangout and got decimated.
  • Chris picked up The Walking Dead: Assault for iOS and was rather impressed by the comic book art. It's very cheaply priced at $2 and is a OTSG (One Toilet Sitting Game).
  • Tony rages about the mid-season finale of The Walking Dead, everyone tells him to shut up so as not to spoil anything (no worries, no spoilers on the show).
  • Jamie, Chris, and their wives have been playing a Mice and Mystics campaign, coming up in the review!

The Secret Cabal Christmas sponsored by Myriad Games!

We've decided to share in the holiday experience and give you guys a chance to get your hands on a brand new copy of Eclipse! We want you, our awesome fans, to write up a Christmas Carol, at least a verse and the chorus. Brian, Chris, and Jamie will then sing that chorus, Tony will sing the verse. We'll provide links to songs you can use. It can be about anything holiday and gaming related. Tony recommends how people hate getting Chibis for Christmas. We'll pick the winner of the give-away, and the one we choose gets Eclipse! The deadline is January 2nd after which we'll be picking our favorite from the submissions. For all the details, check out the post on our BoardGameGeek.com forum.

Game Walkthrough And Review

In Mice and Mystics players take on the roles of those still loyal to the king – but to escape the clutches of Vanestra, they have been turned into mice! Play as cunning field mice who must race through a castle now twenty times larger than before. The castle would be a dangerous place with Vanestra's minions in control, but now countless other terrors also await heroes who are but the size of figs. Play as nimble Prince Colin and fence your way past your foes, or try Nez Bellows, the burly smith. Confound your foes as the wizened old mouse Maginos, or protect your companions as Tilda, the castle's former healer. Every player will have a vital role in the quest to warn the king, and it will take careful planning to find Vanestra's weakness and defeat her.

Watch It Played has a great gameplay walkthrough for Mice and Mystics. Check it out!

Shadowrift is a game that Jamie considers as deck builder built for players like him, folks who aren't looking for the heaviness of a game like Thunderstone and the extended play time and where each and every mechanic is saturated in theme. It's a cooperative game with many varying levels of difficulty, where the heroes are trying to fight off various monsters attacking the town while sealing the Shadowrifts. If you're looking to pickup a deck builder this is the one we recommend.

A Look Back at Betrayal at House on the Hill

One year later, and not suprisingly Tony could care less about Betrayal at House on the Hill. Brian started off with a poor outlook of Betrayal, but he's into it now. While it's not one that he gets to the table often he enjoys it. The caveat is that it has to be a group of gamers playing for fun and not necessarily to win as the mechanics aren't great. Jamie is still very impressed with this game and loves it. In particular he loves the random traitor mechanic with the changing story lines. Chris, as expected, absolutely loves this game.

Crowd-Funded Features

And now for the re-birth of the Pathfinder Online Fantasy Sandbox MMO! Except it's now actually trying to get money to produce the game. They funded their pitch for the technology demo that they needed to get investors and now have a Kickstarter to help them produce the game faster with a $1 Million dollar kickstarter. Estimated delivery date is January 2016. Yeah, we thought so too.
Product Announcements / Releases
iPad Kingdom Builder has released for iPad for $6.99! Kinda glitchy atm, but it's fun and engaging to play. Hopefully they'll clean it up in the coming days.
Axel Might and Magic Heroes released! Not really. Only if you live in Poland =( Lucky dogs, this thing looks amazing.
Wizards of the Coast Wizards of the Coast has announced an expansion for Lords of Waterdeep: Scoundrels of Skullport! Lots of great features: 6 players, new lords, Undermountain, and more! August 2013 release date.
Gale Force 9 The Serpent and the Wolf, an expansion for Spartacus: A Game of Blood and Treachery, has been announced as an early 2013 release! The Egyptian is a featured gladiator that looks ridiculous in comparison to other gladiators.
